Microsoft Corporation Finance Director - Azure Infrastructure in Redmond, Washington

The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy.

The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve both revenue and gross margin growth. As a crucial member of the team, you’ll also support long term bets and drive intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition. All while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments, safeguarding shareholder interest.

We are looking for a Finance Director - Azure Networking, a leader who will coach teams who support our cloud product margins and strategy, defining key areas for margin expansion for Azure Storaage and Networking products as well as lead the Azure wide margin planning rhythm in partnership with Engineering.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Azure Core Engineering leadership team to identify and prioritize investments for sustained margin growth

  • Be a trusted advisor and build working relationships with the Azure Storage and Networking Engineering leadership teams

  • Lead the bi-annual planning cycle for Azure in partnership with Engineering and finance leadership teams

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of big growth and transformation ideas in order to meet long term margin aspirations of the business.

  • Be comfortable challenging business partners and existing norms or courses of action, to drive better business outcomes for Microsoft

  • Lead and motivate a high functioning team

  • Focus on creating a diverse and inclusive culture of empathy, trust and collaboration to ensure that each person in the team can thrive and bring their best to work

  • Drive structured people rhythms around career development, performance check-ins, slate planning

  • Drive the tone of compliance within the business and ensure partnership and effectiveness with the business teams

• Ensure compliance in all areas of risk within the business

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 10+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

o OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

o OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established leadership skills with analytical modeling and strategic thinking

  • Proven data and financial modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems

  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way. Executive level oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated results proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project through both individual and v-team efforts

  • Collaborative partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back as required

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize for impact and the resourcefulness to deliver  

Financial Analysis M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
