Atlantic Health System Registered Nurse, Ambulatory in Phillipsburg, New Jersey

Responsible for establishing, ensuring and supervising the office staff as well as procedures to maintain quality services and efficient operations.

  • ASSESSMENT Performs patient assessment that is systematic, comprehensive and accurate. Addresses all pertinent information related to patient visit in a comprehensive manner. Identifies and address needs of the patient and significant others/family via a multidisciplinary approach. Identifies needs for additional services. Identifies and anticipates potential risk/problems.

  • DIAGNOSIS Identifies patient needs and problems. Analyzes assessment data to determine relevant patient diagnosis. Serves as a pain resource person to patient and their family. Accountable, informative and non-judgmental in resolving problems that arise. Identifies quality improvement needs and organizes plan.

  • PLANNING Identifies and utilizes best practices within AHS. Efficient in planning for days assignment and adaptable when circumstances require. Sets realistic goals with measurable standards and objectives. Ability to overcome barriers/obstacles to move ahead and ensure task/project completeness. Plans for ongoing/continuum of care.

  • IMPLEMENTATION: Knowledgeable in delegating responsibilities to all staff members. Implements Evidence Based current nursing practice guidelines and standards to provide patient care. Integrates and implements nursing practice across the continuum of care efficiently. Prioritizes patient care in relation to units needs.

  • EVALUATION Evaluates effectiveness of intervention and revises Plan of Care as appropriate. Evaluates individualized patient goals by utilizing established policies and standards of care including treatment protocols and clinical guidelines.

  • Accountable for outcomes and able to re-evaluate for improved solutions in patient care, work flow and complaint resolutions. Recognizes impact of individual actions or decisions enhance and contribute to the Pain Centers efficiency.

  • DOCUMENTATION Documents the patient s and family s response to therapies and nursing interventions. Documents patient/family teaching/learning and education/resource information Documents required information accurately on patient record in a timely manner. Charges patient visits accurately. Maintain patient records in confidential manner.

  • SAFETY Has essential knowledge of medications prescribed by pain management physicians (including use and adverse effects). Knowledgeable and comfortable with all Pain Center equipment. Recognizes emergency situations and reacts appropriately and adheres to PMC emergency policy procedure. Maintains a safe environment for patient care. Maintains equipment,

  • AHS email and department mailbox. Reports malfunctions and orders service for non-working equipment. Adheres to OSHA, JCAHO, and hospital standard requirements.

  • COLLABORATION Collaborates with physician and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Instrumental in helping the patient to set and achieve reasonable goals. Active participant in quality improvement data

  • collection/studies. Rotates working in all clinical positions to ensure competent. Fulfills the requirement of working for the department 4 days a month. Department hours are filled in on schedule prior to and secondary departments. Availability is put into department schedule 2 months in advance. Collaborates with Insurance coordinator, schedulers and billing co-workers to ensure proper workflow and billing.

  • EDUCATION Demonstrates professional practice responsibility and fulfills mandatory obligations: corporate compliance, CPR certification, BLS, Peer Reviews, department competencies, department audits, CEU s. Identifies strengths/weaknesses and seeks self-motivated learning experiences. Active member of Unit Based Shared Governance and department staff meetings, attends all meetings, if unable to attend the meeting reviews minutes, signs and gives a copy to supervisor. Resourceful in identifying areas for clinical and professional growth. Attends pertinent educational offerings. Attends staff meetings as required.

  • QUALITY IMPROVEMENT Participates in performance improvement activities, including data collection and evaluation. Assists in implementing changes that enhance patient care. Reassess and improves upon documentation requirements.

  • Other Tasks Which May be Required:

  • Physical Requirements: Able to sit, lift 25 lbs or more, stand for prolong periods of time. Bending as needed and other requirements needed to perform job. Wear lead apron. Other requirements as defined by Occupational Safety.

Required:

    1. BSN required.

Preferred:

  • Capable of working in a fast- paced environment while maintaining aseptic technique and providing excellent safe patient care.

  • Pain Certification preferred

  • Acute care experience

  • BLS

  • Specialty knowledge, skills, and abilities may be required based on department/specialty group assigned

  • Clinical experience in PACU, orthopedics, pain management, preferred
