Overview USU Extension seeks to hire a qualified individual to coordinate the 4-H youth program in Duchesne County. This position (Program Coordinator I NE) is classified as non-exempt based on provisions of the Fair Labor Standard Act, and is eligible for overtime for approved work that exceeds 40 hours per week.

Incumbents in the 4-H Program Coordinator I position plan and coordinate the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the Duchesne County 4-H program. This may include but is not limited to planning day camps, developing educational activities, volunteer recruitment, screening, orientation, training, support, and recognition as well as general data and fund management.

The 4-H Program Coordinator I will report to the Agriculture Extension Faculty position in Duchesne County and an Extension Director. This classification may train and direct hourly/student employees and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Development (recruit, screen, orient, train, support and recognize volunteers).
  • Designs, coordinates, and implements events and activities for the Duchesne 4-H Program.
  • Serves as a principal liaison between 4-H youth, volunteers, donors and community partners.
  • Facilitates day camps, educational events, classroom visits and volunteer recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of 4-H youth development events.
  • Monitors and administers program revenues and expenses; may develop or participate in the development of funding proposals for the program.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates development of promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepare reports; and maintains program records and statistical information.
  • Ensures completion of clerical and administrative support tasks, including creating, typing, and editing program correspondence and purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other publications.
  • Writes and/or assists with writing grants and proposals as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.
  • May maintain and create content for program website.
  • May train and direct lower-level staff, student employees, volunteers and/or graduate students.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelors degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required. Applicants currently seeking a related degree will be considered.
