The Role: Senior Research Analyst

The Team: This position is in the Transaction Research team within the Companies and Transaction group. The Transaction Research team covers the entire energy sector M&As, including upstream, announced and the oil and gas fields/blocks available on the market for acquisition (SEAM database). The team publishes various Insight reports covering several M&A topics and regions along with databases. We also have an analytical dashboard for our clients.

The Impact: This position primarily supports our M&A database within the Transaction Research team and product development which is critical to our commercial success. This role maintains the M&A database and publishes regular topical Insight reports for our clients, which is important for our client’s inorganic strategy and identifying the target assets along with valuation. This position also supports client engagements and presents our research insights to the clients and prospects for subscription renewal and new business.

Responsibilities: Join our dynamic team as an M&A Analyst in the energy sector, primarily focusing on the upstream sector. This role demands a proactive approach to tracking market trends, analyzing M&A opportunities, and supporting our global operations.

Market analysis and data management

  • Track and analyze mergers and acquisitions (M&As) within the energy sector, mainly upstream.

  • Enter and maintain data in databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

  • Regularly review market data and trends to verify and validate information.

Valuation and insight report

  • Conduct valuations of potential market opportunities.

  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations.

  • Writing reports that communicate complex data and analyses in an understandable format, tailored to different stakeholder needs.

Research and collaboration

  • Collaborate with energy professionals across global locations to enhance research quality and output.

  • Produce subscription-based and consulting work products.

  • Engage in periodic reviews to highlight key findings and focus on market trends.

Client and team communication

  • Manage communications with clients and address their queries.

  • Support the sales team.

  • Work collaboratively with analysts and other professionals in various global offices.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience: 5-7 years in business research or industry-specific roles within the M&A domain of the oil and gas sector.

Education: MBA with a specialization in oil and gas/finance.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in international business English, with excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication abilities.

  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical capabilities, with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in data research, including the effective sourcing of company reports and relevant industry data.

  • Outstanding organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Independent, confident, and a self-starter, adept at managing a diverse workload.
