Summary:

This is a full-time position, which is contingent upon grant funding. The WIOA Title II program is performance based and it must comply with state and federal mandates. Thus, the instructor must follow state standards and approved curriculum for the program as well as meet the criteria as a proficient instructor. The purpose of this position is to teach general education courses and soft skills (which includes communication and listening, self-management, digital and financial literacy) to adults so that they can learn the knowledge and skills needed to obtain an industry recognized certification or a family sustaining job. The AE will perform duties that are instructional and clerical in nature while delivering direct services to adults. The employee willserveinthepositionforwhich an educational professional has responsibilityindesigning andimplementing educational lessons, evaluations,remediationplans,activities,andservicesforparticipants.

Thefollowingdutiesrepresent 55%oftheworkperformed forplanning,instruction, andevaluatingstudents\' growth

  • Develop, modify, and evaluate curriculum to ensure that it meet the needs of the students, aligns with WIOA, the Illinois ABE/ASE Content Standards as well as the College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Write lesson Reading/Language Arts focused plans that are based on the Illinois ABE/ASE Content Standards as well as the College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Teachmulti-level andBridge/IET(IntegratedEducation& Training) classesin Reading/Language Arts using evidence-based practices or strategies
  • ContextualizedinstructionfortheBridge/IETcourses
  • Differentiatecurriculum,assessments,and/orinstructionto meetthe needofthestudent
  • Evaluatestudents\'progressregularlyusingformativeandstandardizedassessments
  • Createandimplement students\'remediationplans
  • Administercareerreadinessassessments

The following duties represent 35% of the work performed in training, coordinating, implementing student support services, and collaborating with team members, internal departments, and external agencies

  • CompletetheICCB\'sCollegeandCareerReadinessStandardsProficientTrainingforAdult Educatorsandearncertificate within 6-monthsof hiredate
  • Attendscheduledprogrammeetingsandtrainingworkshops
  • Each fiscal year, earn at least 12 hours of Professional Development units approved by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB)
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the world of work, the career pathway framework, to connect these systems to one of the main purposes for adult basic and adult secondary education
  • Collaborate withinternalandexternal career navigators, other AEs, workforce partners as well as with occupational skill trainers (e.g., Security and Culinary Instructors)
  • Assess,counselandin collaboration withASH\'sCareerNavigator referstudentsdirectlyto post secondary, vocational, and/or career opportunities as well as supportive services as needed
  • Work with team members to integrate basic and employability skills, career exploration, and/or technical skills in ABE/ASE instruction using innovative or evidence-based approaches
  • In collaboration with the Director of Education, Manager, and Career Navigator, provide educational counseling to students which may include setting goals, resolving conflicts, and overcoming barriers and crises to help retain students
  • With the support from the Director of Education or Manager, advise students on their progress and recommend steps to solve any issues that may impede them from completing their program or refer them to the appropriate staff member or external agency Conduct/participateinweeklystudentintakes,interviews, orientations, andenrollmenttasksas needed
  • Maintain ongoing communication with program instructors, program director, supervisor, and case manager to help ensure student achievement
