Assists with planning, coordination and management of the daily financial operations of with responsibility for all accounting and financial reporting duties. Ensures that all required deadlines are met and reports issued meet the requirements of accuracy, timeliness, and with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and plans objectives, policies, procedures and staffing for financial reporting team. Oversees activities of staff. Provides training and guidance, as needed. Provides overall direction and supervision for all financial reporting responsibilities.

  2. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial statement preparation and month-end close as well as ad hoc analyses. Manages all aspects of the general ledger. Compiles consolidated monthly financial statement package for senior management.

  3. Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports. Ensures all accounting data is maintained in an efficient manner, providing complete and accurate accounts of assets, liabilities and inter-company transactions. Ensures records and documentation of transactions are in order and complete. Prepares and processes in-depth financial statements.

  4. Establishes and maintains effective communication and relationships with various internal and external departments.

  5. Coordinates the annual audit and serves as liaison with external auditors. Gathers information and responds to inquiries. Keeps CFO informed of any identified and outstanding issues. Directs the preparation of all year-end analyses and documentation in support of fiscal year financial results.

  6. Lead role in preparing tax returns and other required reports.

  7. Keeps abreast of and interprets new accounting standards. Recommends procedures and systems to enhance control. Coordinates the financial statement audit processes with external auditors.

  8. Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business or Financial Management required. Master's degree preferred.

  2. 3-5 years related work experience required and supervisory/management experience required

  3. Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable as well as business management principles and financial software systems.

  4. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

  6. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate broad and comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex and/or unprecedented situations across multiple functional areas.

  7. Team Work: Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.

  8. Customer Service: Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in assigned unit(s) and/or across multiple areas in a timely and respectful manner.
